5th Region AD Meeting Minutes

Old Business:

• Minutes approved - Brent Campbell - Adair County 1st, David Clark - Bardstown 2nd approved

New Business:

• Fall Student-Athlete of the Year - Jeanie Downs - Bethlehem and Sam Floyd - Bardstown
• Business Report - Mr. Broaddus - $3,338.52
• 5th Region Soccer Tournaments - great tournaments overall
• Checks will go out in the next few days
• 5th Region Volleyball Tournament - update from TNHS will go out on Thursday
• Policy Board update - Glenn Spalding
• Help with getting people into officiating
• Must get schedules turned in in a timely manner
• Go by the deadlines posted
• Soccer Scheduling
• Solution could be boys and girls don't play on the same night
• Coaches are making changes and not letting AD's know
• Will Green play in the Class A tourney?
• Coaches need to use Arbiter to rate officials so they have more documentation
• 95% of AD's completed the assigner evaluations which helps them improve each year
• Tim Deaton resigned from the policy board so that district needs a replacement
• Baseball - Kelly Fisher
• Invested in the 5th Region and want it to run smoothly
• Recruited several adults to commit to officiating
• Length of freshmen and JV games is too long
• Put a time limit on the 2nd games of the night
• 3 outs or 3 runs
• 90 minutes or an hour and 45 minutes
• 9:30pm EST finish time (no new inning to start)
• Send a survey out and we get our coaches opinion
• Middle School and freshmen doubleheaders are strictly up to them
• 1 seven inning game or 3 five inning games with an hour and a half stop time
• Volleyball Issues - Length of time
• Principals sent (7 want a change, 1 keep it the same)
• JV/V the same and 9th on a different night
• 2 games for freshmen, 2 for JV and then 2 out of 3 for varsity
• Mike thinks he can get more officials if they are on the same night 
• Mandating it so we can have a contract in place
• 15 freshmen volleyball games is an option
• Motion by: 1st by Chris Mathews proposed the 2, 2, 3 out of 5 and that we mandate it.  2nd by David Dawson.  12 for and 2 against.
• Baseball/Softball Regional Discussion
• Region to begin on Saturday discussion
• Mike Holt proposed each district start when they want to and region will start on that Memorial Day Weekend.  (Mike Holt 1st motion, Glenn Spalding 2nd)
• Bardstown has baseball and North Hardin has softball
• Softball to be the same as baseball (motion passes)
• New Business
