August 28, 2019 Meeting Minutes

- Old Business
- Baseball - Start district and region date conversation with coaches. Have the dates set before Memorial Day. Poll the coaches to see what they think about the five additional nights and bring it back to the September meeting.
- New Business
- Mr. Broaddus reported the finances with the current statement and budget. He also mentioned the dues that included the State AD Association dues. There was a motion to keep them at $235. David Clark had the first motion and Brent Campbell with the second motion to approve.
- Fifth Region Assigners.
- Andy Strain sent in information for the meeting. Make sure schedules are correct and sent in on time. Also, make sure players are equipped properly.
- Mike Holt said that scratches have to be done on time because coaches can't scratch officials after the deadline. He also mentioned making sure coaches have line judges and people at the book who are aware of the sport.
- Jim Long discussed the problem with scrimmages and not paying referees something for their time. He needs schedules by June 1. 9.28.19 there is an issue with referee coverage. Host schools needs to provide some place for referees to change.
- Fall Sports for the 5th Region
- Boys soccer region is switching from Bardstown to Central Hardin this year because Bardstown will have turf next year.
- Glenn Spalding
- Mr. Broaddus is stepping down from the 5th Region Policy Board. Tim Deaton is also stepping down from the 5th Region Policy Board. Needs new representation from both the 18th and 19th District. David Clark has expressed interest, but Chris Pickett is already on board and that may be too much representation from Bardstown.
- Assigners
- Thanked the policy board for their work. Bryan Washer with basketball Mike Moritz with softball. Kelly Fisher with baseball. Tim Davis sent directions via e-mail for how to pay for the invoice for assigners. The dues are $25.00. The wrestling charge applies to the following: Owensboro Apollo, Daviess County, Owensboro High School, and Whitesville Trinity. All assigners are paid the same except for Andy Strain. Kelly Fisher had mentioned that if we limit the JV baseball time, maybe more officials will join the association. Glenn Spalding said that some regions apply a late fee when schedules are not in on time. Evaluations of officials is only on Arbiter.

- 17th - Chris Matthews of North Hardin
- 18th - Jerry Taylor of Hart County
- 19th - Sara Thurmond of Thomas Nelson
- 20th - Paul McQueary of Taylor County
- 5th Region Blog - Sara Thurmond will take over the blog :)
- Jerry Taylor said Hart wants to start being in the volleyball region rotation as a host site
- Jackie Prather from Fort Knox said she will be out for 6 weeks, but Sheila Seager will be taking over for her in her absence
- Next meeting - 9.25.19 in Bardstown, October meeting will be in E-town
- Motion to adjourn - 1st motion David Clark from Bardstown, 2nd motion Chris Matthews of North Hardin
